From the grassroots of Ekiti State to the Senate of Nigeria's largest student body. Every step. Every milestone. Every student served.
"I did not arrive at this podium by accident. Every position I have held, every crisis I have intervened in, every student I have fought for — has been preparation for this moment."— Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (Babtee), Declaration of Candidature, March 2026
Where it all began — local service, real stakes.
Every great leader begins somewhere. For Babtee, it began at home — in Ekiti, at the grassroots level of Nigerian student unionism. This phase taught him the most important lesson in leadership: that real power comes from understanding the people you serve.
Coordinated all SUG Presidents within Ekiti State as Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Chairman. Led local protests for student welfare and represented the collective voice of Ekiti campus students at the zonal level.
Served as the diplomatic bridge between NANS and critical federal institutions including the Federal Government, the EFCC, and JAMB. Represented the interests of Nigerian students in high-level national engagements and negotiations.
From Ekiti to Abuja — taking the fight to the top.
The second phase of the journey was defined by a single word: impact. As Vice President of External Affairs, Babtee took the students' fight to the national level — walking into federal offices, sitting across from government officials, and demanding results. He got them.
Led the Southwest protest against the historic 8-month ASUU strike that had paralyzed Nigerian universities. The sustained pressure from student-led protests contributed to the eventual calling off of the strike.
Personally intervened on behalf of hundreds of stranded Direct Entry candidates at the JAMB office in Ikoyi, Lagos. Engaged JAMB leadership directly and secured a critical deadline extension, saving the academic futures of affected students.
Led the campaign for the urgent evacuation of Nigerian students trapped in war-torn Sudan during the outbreak of armed conflict. Was physically present at the airport upon the students' return to Nigeria — not for photo opportunities, but as a demonstration of genuine care.
Elected Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students — presiding over the highest legislative body of NANS. Led with dignity, procedural fairness, and a commitment to constitutional order throughout the tenure.
The highest chamber — presiding with principle.
As Senate President, the highest legislative role in NANS, Babtee presided over the association with dignity, fairness, and constitutional order. This phase proved that he could lead institutions, not just causes.
When students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) were arrested by the EFCC, Comr. Babtee led a delegation to EFCC Headquarters in Abuja and personally traveled to the EFCC Benin Zonal Office to secure the students' immediate release.
Successfully secured the reinstatement of the suspended Students' Union Government (SUG) at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) — restoring democratic student governance and the right of students to organize and be represented.
Held the Dangote Group publicly accountable for their failure to fulfill the commitment to immortalize students of Adekunle Ajasin University who were tragically killed. Led sustained advocacy until the matter received appropriate national attention.
Responded swiftly to a devastating fire outbreak at a private hostel near Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). Coordinated immediate support and advocacy for affected students, calling on relevant authorities to address campus safety.
Strongly and publicly demanded justice following the tragic and suspicious death of Alex Chamuke, a student at Ajayi Crowther University. Amplified the family's call for accountability and a thorough investigation.
Strengthened formal engagement with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) to advance improved campus healthcare delivery and address the professional concerns of medical laboratory science students across Nigeria.
Advocated for fairness and due process regarding the Federal Government's ban on certificates from universities in Benin Republic and Togo, ensuring the voices of affected Nigerian students were heard at the highest levels.
The next chapter — and the biggest one yet.
Every step of the journey — every protest, every negotiation, every sleepless night — was preparation for this moment. The NANS Presidency is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter for every Nigerian student.
Officially declared his candidacy for the Office of National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) under the banner of the EPOCH Movement — a movement committed to Empowerment, Progress, Opportunity, Collaboration, and Human Capacity Development.
The next milestone: NANS National President. The EPOCH Movement begins now.
