"BABTEE" — Student Leader · Advocate · Visionary · NANS Presidential Aspirant 2026
Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, fondly called Babtee, is a seasoned student leader, activist, and advocate who has dedicated the better part of his formative years to the service of Nigerian students.
Born and raised with a deep sense of justice and community, Babtee emerged as a student leader at a time when the Nigerian student movement needed bold, principled, and visionary leadership. His journey began at the grassroots — as JCC Chairman (Ekiti Axis) — where he coordinated all SUG Presidents within Ekiti State and led local protests for student welfare.
His rise through the ranks of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has been nothing short of remarkable. As Vice President of External Affairs, he served as the diplomatic bridge between NANS and critical federal institutions including the Federal Government, EFCC, and JAMB. As Senate President of NANS, he presided with dignity, fairness, and a commitment to due process.
From intervening in the JAMB Direct Entry crisis, to leading the campaign for the evacuation of Nigerian students from war-torn Sudan, to physically traveling to the EFCC Benin Zonal Office to secure the release of wrongly arrested FUTA students — Babtee has consistently shown that student leadership is a calling, not a career.
Today, he presents himself before the great body of Nigerian students as a candidate for the National Presidency of NANS, under the banner of the EPOCH Movement — a movement that believes this is not just another election, but a defining moment, a turning point in the history of Nigerian student unionism.
Personal Motto: "Service before self. Students above all."
"Service before self. Students above all."— Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (Babtee)
He will not use the platform of NANS for personal enrichment or political patronage.
He will not govern from a distance. When students need him, he will be there.
Not promises. Not press releases. Measurable, verifiable, student-centered results.
What makes Comr. Babtee distinctly qualified for the highest office in Nigerian student leadership.
Proven track record of resolving complex, high-stakes student crises at the federal level — from EFCC arrests to international evacuations.
Experienced in direct negotiations with federal institutions — JAMB, EFCC, NUC, TETFund, Federal Ministry of Education — and winning.
Demonstrated ability to unite diverse student constituencies — across zones, institutions, and factions — under a common purpose.
Fearless, articulate, and effective spokesperson for student rights. Knows how to command attention and produce results.
Deep experience in student governance at the highest level — as Senate President, he presided with fairness, protocol, and dignity.
The EPOCH Agenda is not a wish list — it is a detailed, actionable blueprint born from years of frontline student leadership experience.
A steady, deliberate rise through the ranks — each position earned, not given.

NANS National President — The EPOCH Movement
March 2026 — Present
Officially declared candidacy for the Office of National President of NANS under the EPOCH Movement — a blueprint for transforming Nigerian student governance through Empowerment, Progress, Opportunity, Collaboration, and Human Capacity Development.
These are not talking points. These are a documented record of real student crises resolved through real leadership.
When hundreds of Direct Entry candidates were stranded at the JAMB office in Ikoyi, Lagos — confused, frustrated, and running out of time — Comr. Babtee intervened personally. He engaged JAMB leadership directly, presented the students' case with documented evidence, and secured a critical deadline extension. Those students registered. Their academic futures were not cut short. Because of that intervention.
When armed conflict erupted in Sudan, Nigerian students were stranded in a war zone. While others were writing press statements, Comr. Babtee was on the phone — coordinating with students on the ground, feeding information to federal authorities, mobilizing networks, and demanding urgent government action. When the evacuation flights landed and Nigerian students stepped back onto home soil, he was at the airport. Not for cameras. Because that is what leadership means.
The 8-month ASUU strike of 2022 was one of the longest in Nigerian history, robbing hundreds of thousands of students of an entire academic session. Comr. Babtee led the Southwest protest — organizing students, coordinating the march, and ensuring that the voices of affected students reached the highest levels of government. The strike was subsequently called off.
When students of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) were arrested by the EFCC, Comr. Babtee did not write letters. He traveled to EFCC Headquarters in Abuja. He then personally traveled to the EFCC Benin Zonal Office. He sat with officials. He argued the case. He advocated for the students' immediate release. Those students came home. Because he showed up.
The suspension of the Students' Union Government at the University of Benin was a direct attack on student democracy. Comr. Babtee led the advocacy for reinstatement — engaging university management, the NUC, and relevant authorities until the SUG was restored. Student governance is non-negotiable.
The students of Adekunle Ajasin University who were tragically killed deserved to be remembered. The Dangote Group had made commitments to immortalize them — commitments that went unfulfilled. Comr. Babtee held them publicly accountable, leading sustained advocacy that ensured the matter received appropriate national attention and pressure.
And many more — including OAU Hostel Fire, Alex Chamuke Justice, MLSCN Engagement, Benin/Togo Certificate Advocacy...
